PILGRIMAGE OF HOPE: PREPARING FOR THE JUBILEE YEAR 2025
Pope Francis has designated 2025 a Jubilee Year, with the theme Pilgrims of Hope. The Jubilee year officially starts on Christmas Eve 2024 although we are celebrating in school from the end of November as part of Catholic Education Week. In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back into right relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation. We will be exploring these relationships throughout the year, please check Twitter/X to keep up with what we are doing. If you would like to learn more about the Jubilee, including messages from the Pope, information about celebrations and the official Jubilee hymn and prayer, please visit https://www.iubilaeum2025.va/en/giubileo-2025.html

Sunday Gospel and Reflection
Sunday Gospel - First Sunday of Advent (Year C)
Luke 21: 25-28, 34-36
There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

Our Parish Mission Prayer
Holy Spirit be our guide as we journey towards our Father’s house.
Help us to work together so that our time of mission may enrich our parish of Our Lady’s, St. Matthew’s and St. Margaret’s.
With our friends and neighbours in other churches, help us to bear witness in our community to the love of Jesus Christ so that all people will be drawn to him.
Amen
