School Vision, Values and Aims
St Andrew’s Vision, Values and Aims were created in consultation with staff, pupils and parents and are regularly revisited and reviewed alongside national and local priorities.
Our Vision
“To promote a secure, happy and inclusive Catholic Christian environment, which extends into a close partnership between school, home, parish and the wider community.”
“To show consideration for individuality, promote and celebrate diversity, inclusion and tolerance based on Gospel Values”
Our School Core Values
Our Core Values are a culmination of work carried out during session 2021-22 with a key focus on confirming a common language for relationships, across our school community. This was in response to the significant interruption to school life resulting from on-going changes in school leadership and the impact of the Covid pandemic. Our Core Values underpin all the relationships within our school community and are modelled, recognised and celebrated daily. Celebrating “The St Andrew’s Way” is also a key focus at weekly assemblies.
“The St Andrew’s Way”
“Treat others as you would want to be treated” (St Matthew 7:12)
Respectful Kind Thoughtful Understanding
Grateful Honest Resilient
Our School Aims
At St Andrew's we aim to:
Put your child at the centre of everything we do
Have high aspirations and expectations of everyone
Provide high quality leadership
Provide innovative and inspiring learning opportunities that meet the needs of all learners
Work in collaboration and partnership
Work together to develop our children holistically within a culture and ethos of mutual trust and respect
Embedding our school Vision, Values and Aims is at the heart of all that we do at St Andrew’s PS. Learning rewards are based on the attributes of the Midlothian Learner, in tandem with developing the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence. These values and attributes are also reflected during regular learning conversations between pupils, staff and parents, as well as in the end of year Pupil Progress Report.
