Children's Rights

UNCRC

Rights are the things children need to grow up happy, healthy and safe.

At St Andrew’s we show consideration for individuality, promote and celebrate diversity, inclusion and tolerance based on Gospel values and the principles of The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

As a whole school community we are delighted to have achieved the UNICEF Bronze Rights Respecting Schools Award for being ‘Rights Committed’. We are now on our Journey to Silver!

Find out more about what the UNCRC is and why it is so important.

Our Rights steering group, here at St Andrew's, are called the Rights Fighters.

This is AVA out Rights Mascot. They are displayed in each classroom and we use them to show when our learning links to children’s rights.

Each class has their own Class Charter. Charters make rights real and provide a framework for a positive environment where rights are respected, protected and promoted. For each article chosen, there are agree actions that children, as ‘rights holders,’ and adults, as ‘duty bearers,’ will take to ensure that rights are realised and respected.
